Newcastle International prepares for thousands of customers this bank holiday weekend

Spain, especially the Costa resorts, and the Balearic Islands are the most popular destinations for families to escape to. The majority of Thomas Cook, Thomsons, Jet2.com, and easyJet routes guarantee an abundance of sunshine. Many customers also choose to connect on from Dubai with Emirates to a global network including Australia and New Zealand.

Couples and groups of friends of all ages will opt for a city break with British Airways to London Heathrow, Flybe to Gatwick, KLM to Amsterdam, Air France to Paris, Prague and Krakow with Jet2.com, and Barcelona with easyJet.

Chris Sanders, aviation development director at Newcastle International, said: ‘The temperamental summer weather forecast has encouraged a surge of last minute travel bookings to guaranteed sunshine locations in the Mediterranean. Summer is the busiest period in the Airport’s calendar, it’s when we see the largest volume of North East travellers going on their well-deserved break. We advise customers to leave plenty of time to travel to the airport and get through to the Departures Lounge. The sooner you’re here, the sooner you can relax and get into the holiday mood.’

The airport team has created a step by step guide to ensure travellers have an enjoyable, seamless and hassle free journey through Newcastle International:

1. Plan your journey to the airport ahead of time.  Book onsite car parking on our website or by calling us before you arrive.  Parking at the airport offers convenient access to the terminal and the security is second to none.
2. If you can, check in online and print your boarding card before arriving at the airport.
3. Opt for ‘Fast Track’ through security to get through to the departure lounge even quicker. This is available to purchase as you enter into the security area or through our website in advance.
4. Ensure any liquids carried in your hand luggage, including sun cream, pastes and gel, are 100mls or under and are presented in a clear plastic bag. These are available to purchase at the entrance to security.
5. Those travelling with young children can purchase additional milk and other baby products in Boots in the Departures Lounge store.
6. Arrive at the airport early to enjoy a few relaxing drinks and a meal.
